What is Karate?

"Karate is the ultimate art of unarmed combat fighting"

 

Karate has three disciplines:

Basic, Form and Fighting.

Kihon, Kata and Kumite.

Karate has four elements:

Punching, Kicking, Blocking and Striking.

Tzuki, Geri, Uke and Uche

Each discipline and element must be practiced diligently each day. By doing this you will achieve a better physical and mental well being, better awareness, more confidence in your everyday pursuits and a way to relieve stress through your training. In other words a life long road to the ultimate goal the perfection of character.

It is not easy, it takes a lot of hard training, requires commitment and dedication but the benefits are priceless.

A true story

One of our black belts on holiday abroad with his mates, dove into unforseen shallow water, he damaged his neck and was unconcious. His mates saw this and helped him stay afloat till the medics arrived. The medics said that but for their quick thinking and his karate training he could have died from his injuries. The black belt is ok suffering no ill effects and living life normally.

 Karate does not make you a superman but through training it does condition your body to overcome the riggers of todays life style.
